Fuck the US Empire

Cause the US police and alt-right are ultimately on the same side. If it was BLM there'd be bodies already, not playing with kid-gloves.

"The Met Police said Londoners should expect officers to be more "inquisitive" about why they are "out and about" during lockdown"

oh so this will be just like the first lockdown then won't it, where black people are harassed and fined while white people can just say 'I'm going to the supermarket' and get a friendly wave. there was a black paramedic who was harassed by the cops for going to fucking work back last year in the early lockdown, and black labour MP Dawn Butler (who I have met personally and is a cool socialist lady) who was stopped and harassed by police too without them even knowing who she was. the Met THEMSELVES has openly admitted they're institutionally racist, and you fucking trust them with on the spot interrogation that is somehow magically not going to go along racial lines?

furthermore, black and brown people are far more likely to be doing the key worker jobs and are thusly more likely to be singled out for being out and about where well off white workers can stay home, meaning this further will be used as a method of harasment of non white Londoners

If anyone has told you New Year’s Resolutions are dumb or that 2021 will be the same as 2020, just know that they’re wrong. It’s okay to celebrate. It’s okay to be happy. It’s okay to be excited for the future.

Why do we say ACAB?

"...we don’t say all cops are bad, we say All Cops Are Bastards. We don’t mean bastard as an unpleasant or despicable person. Bastard is taken from the word bastardize meaning corrupt or debase.

[Cops] are corrupted, [firstly,] by the possessions of power. They can use their authority to inflict power on people.

[And secondly,] the very laws that they are trying to enforce are corrupt and they are used to subdue different identities and minorities."

Looks like Amazon is retiring the Goodreads API, which just another step towards basically abandoning Goodreads and folding it into some other Amazon service I guess: joealcorn.co.uk/blog/2020/good

My advice? Get off Goodreads while you still can (ie export your content) and move over to StoryGraph: beta.thestorygraph.com

A black-owned startup finally developing a viable alternative to Goodreads. Fuck yeah!

(Why not LibraryThings? Because, guess what.. it’s also owned by Amazon!)

Watching the Crown and saying "dude that's wack" every 5mins as if forgetting that the existence of a family born into power above you is totally wack
