We’re used to thinking of health as individual. It’s up to me to eat the right foods, drink water, get enough sleep, and exercise.

If I don’t, I harm only myself.

The mindset shift we need to embrace is that (now especially), health is communal. My choices could harm you.


In the context of COVID, which spreads invisibly through asymptomatic hosts, inaction is a heroic gesture.

For our families and for our friends, we must have the courage to be still.
