I'm learning Scottish #Gaelic and oinline I use

- #duolingo for learning the #language (in addition to the books I bought)

- #LearnGaelic as dictionary, general reference and sometimes for grammar learngaelic.net

- (slightly coughing 😊 ) Google as translation service translate.google.com/?sl=gd&tl

Question to all the #gàidhlig learners and speakers: which online resources (dictionaries, courses, translation sites, reference, ... ) do you use or would you recommend?

Born on this day, October 26, 1911
Somhairle MacGill-Eain
Sorley MacLean

MacLean was one of the foremost Gaelic poets of the 20th century. One of his major themes was the Highland Clearances. His best known poem, Hallaig, covered this topic in a very personal way, as it is also the name of the village where he was born, on the Isle of Raasay.

MacLean died aged 85 in Inverness, in 1996.

I have updated this post with 2 links to the video, one via Invidious and the other to the YouTube video too.

This topic is very busy still and is morphing a little with time. Anyway I think the discussion is fascinating and vitally important.

My thought for the week .... lol

From Feb 1st England will cease to exist in Brussels, they will have no say, no voice.

Whatever the loudmouth loons shout - England cannot survive without some kind of trade deal with the EU (distance / proximity being the main reasons)

Do you think that maybe ….. the EU, will ask/demand that NI and Scotland be allowed to hold secure referendums as part of the "trade negotiations"... ? hmmmmmmmm

The question people should be asking is, not whether Scotland could survive as an independent nation, but whether Scotland can survive as a nation without independence. peterabell.scot
