Threatening, abusive, intolerant or illegal behaviour may lead to moderation and/or further measures. We have a zero tolerance approach to discrimination, including (but not limited to) racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia. Moderation decisions are final.
The Content Warning flag should be used for NSFW content, and NSFW media should be marked as sensitive.
Account registrations are monitored and accounts considered spam (including commercial advertising, political campaigning/propaganda, duplicate accounts or impersonating legal entities) will be moderated or removed.
We fully subscribe to and comply with the Mastodon Server Covenant. A number of instance blocks are implemented to comply with the principles of the covenant and to prevent our users from being exposed to content that does not comply with our instance rules.
The following guidelines are not a legal document, and final interpretation is up to the administration of mastodon.scot; they are here to provide you with an insight into our content moderation policies:
These provisions notwithstanding, the administration of the service reserves the right to revoke any user's access permissions, at any time, for any reason, except as limited by law.
"Cross-posting" is the automatic copying of posts from one platform to another. That definition does not include the simultaneous posting to multiple platforms from the same app, such as Twidere or PostyBirb. If you use those apps, we consider those posts original, and the following need not apply.
Cross-posting from Mastodon to other platforms is fully permitted. Cross-posting into Mastodon from another platform is not permitted.
We run a relay that other instances can connect to:
Use of the relay is subject to pre-approval. To use the relay your instance must clearly display and enforce (and continue to display and enforce) a code of conduct that prohibits racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia. Please contact @trumpet to request relay access. We reserve the right to withdraw relay access at our discretion.
We currently cache media files for up to 60 days.
We run mastodon.scot as a free service because we love Mastodon, but it costs us money! If you'd like to donate towards our running costs you can contribute by:

Posts from these servers will be hidden in public timelines and conversations, and no notifications will be generated from their users interactions, unless you are following them:
No data from these servers will be processed, stored or exchanged, making any interaction or communication with users from these servers impossible:
