Our introduction question with help from @xtaran:
Q1. Where are you posting from today? What's something that you _don't_ do by cycle, but do by car? What would a cycle need to change that?
@ascentale @xtaran @bikenite A1. I'm posting from Berkeley, CA today as usual. For me, it's camping. My camping trips are usually far from home, and about half of my trips are far from paved roads and require a four wheel drive vehicle with high clearance. Sometimes, the vehicle I'm driving becomes my shelter at camp.
I do like to adventure in ways that don't involve driving a car, and that's probably one of the reasons why I'm very interested in backpacking these days. Now, to find that public-transit-to-trailhead resource...
@Heyweldon @ascentale @xtaran @bikenite
I tried biking to a campground last fall, and it went well.
I'm plotting some camping trips that are <100 miles by ebike, or taking the Northstar/Borealis trains and then riding the rest of the way by folding bike
@NNN @Heyweldon @ascentale @xtaran @bikenite Hutchinson is a good day trip from the cities. They have a city campground right on the river that’s about 1 mile by bike from all the downtown stuff. We did it a couple years ago from Eden Prairie. #MNastodon @bikenite #bikenite
@Brownian_motion @Heyweldon @ascentale @xtaran
Nice, looks like Masonic/West River Campground ?
@NNN @Heyweldon @ascentale @xtaran Wish I knew. I thought it was a city campground but my friend made the reservations for where we stayed. It was right by a band shell and the night we were there we even got a free show! #BikeTooter
