So The Sunday Times are reporting that universities are offering much lower grades for admittance to foreign students willing to pay ££££s than they are to UK students.
Well now, who'd have thought that turning universities into businesses would see them start to behave like... businesses?
@NAB do "UK" students not also have to pay crippling levels of fees in England? Does this mean they have to pay high fees and also face restricted spaces? Doesn't sound like a great system, to be honest. Why would English politicians tout it as superior to to other systems in place in other parts of the "UK"? Why would anyone believe them?
@CloudyMrs @NAB If it's like British Columbia here, typically "International Students" pay 3x as much for the exact same tuition as the "Local Citizenry Students". Plus, you know, they essentially *have* to pay for housing, food, and the visa application to even come here as I understand.

I'm thinking, like Brazil, Germany, France, and Japan.
They end up paying more tuition fees here in B.C.
@CloudyMrs @NAB Ah, fair. If you're considering it compared to Scotland, yeah - ideally, post secondary education should be free for tuition.
I was mainly mentioning that the British locals certainly may pay a lot, but international students will likely be paying well past those fees.
@AT1ST @NAB you're missing the differences between systems in the nations that make up the UK. The idea that overseas students will pay to study is pretty standard. The point I'm making is aimed at English based politicians who point at Scotland and claim it's somehow more unfair there than anywhere else in the UK. Truth is that it's the same for visiting students but more accessible for local students, and that really pisses them off.
