Spent a lot of my childhood on Irvine beach running around. Completely forgot those days until I started to spend more time on the Ayrshire coast recently. Currently walking the Ayrshire Coastal Path in day stages, however Irvine beach is so far the favourite section for me. Now a regular dog walk location in all weathers, although the windier weather really shows its character.

Is it (mountain) bikeable do you think?
@AeonMach managed to get from Wemyss Bay to the Heads of Ayr so far. All bikeable so far. Mostly pathways, some road and a lot of beach. A few places will be dependant on tide times tho.
@andy_morehouse My Dad grew up in Irvine and when I was a lad (long time ago before Irvine expanded into a "new-town") we used to go up every year. Lovely beach and many happy memories
@andy_morehouse We might bump into each other one day - I'm there regularly walking our border terrier and taking photographs. The marram grass images in my timeline were shot in the dunes at Irvine 
@stevenlawson did wonder if those images were taken nearby. If you see a bloke being dragged along the beach by an over-excitable pup, that’ll be me…
