“Grounding, also called earthing, is a therapeutic technique that involves doing activities that “ground” or electrically #reconnect you to the #earth.
This practice relies on #earthing science and grounding physics to explain how electrical charges from the earth can have #positive effects on your body.”
- Walking barefoot
- Lying on the ground
- Submersing in water
- Using #grounding equipment:
grounding mats
grounding sheets or blankets
grounding socks
grounding bands and patches
@sco7sbhoy at uni while studying my counselling degree, we weren't permitted to wear shoes during classes, because of this. If anything got triggered in us, we were encouraged (& sometimes helped) to ground to help manage the intensity.
Being able to spread your toes & really feel the ground is so helpful during emotional overwhelm to help self-regulate.
The research into the positive impact of walking bare footed is amazing.
@SooticasDream Aye. Aye, it is.
There’s a lot of benefits to grounding, and scientifically proven too (a small study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3576907/).
I always walk barefoot whenever I can to feel ‘connected’ to my environment. There are also other alternative methods studied too (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3265077/).
Very interesting technique though. Never heard of classroom based study to be used in this way. Even better if it theoretically supported the process.
