I looked in order to check that the Yorkshire Party was included. It was.

Alas for the YP, the tactical voting choice in and is the LCP, which is best placed to end Julian Smith's parliamentary & CUP ministerial/whip career.

It's sad to see how alike the CUP and RUL candidates's responses were, given that the latter wants to abolish the human rights convention.

I saw a 1971 report from the #BBC that mentioned this #Ripon tradition might end. At that time the tradition dating back to 886 was thought to be dying out. One man blew the horn every night at 9 PM, 365 days a year. It looks as if the tradition survives at least until this article of 2021.

For #TravelThursday here's something from the UK as we sometimes travel here. Fountains Abbey was founded in the 12th century after a falling out among Benedictine monks in York led to 13 of them joining the Cistercian order and building the abbey in accordance with Cistercian architectural practice. By 1535 it was the wealthiest Cistercian monastery in the country. But then Henry VIII went dissolution crazy.

The ruins of a large, medieval abbey are standing in a field of short grass. We're about fifty metres away from the main ruins which includes an almost complete square tower behind most of the walls of the main part of the church with arches prominent. No glass or the roof survives. To the left of the main building are more ruinous walls and the grass in front of us has the bases of columns aligned but none more than half a metre in height. It's a bright day but with plenty of cloud and only a few patches of blue sky peeking through. There's a deep sense of time here but also a quiet peace.
